白甘餘(Bay Ganyo)是保加利亞童話故事的人物,他四處旅行、喜愛結交朋友、愛好自由的個性和台風不謀而合。翻成中文的白甘餘,就像是形容優格狀態的純淨、甘美和餘韻。這個名字不僅說明了優格的來源,同時也介紹了白甘餘的個性,台風因此把這命名為自己的品牌。

小學從台北搬到台南的台風,回想自己到大學前其實都受限於教育體制,常常感到不快樂。研究所時期曾去沖繩交換讀書的台風,不諱言自己的個性古怪,和身邊的人比起來一直都帶著標新立異的鮮明色彩,出國念書與旅行數年之後,更讓他確立了自己想跳出刻板的社會期待,走一條讓自己快樂卻又不傷害這個世界的路。小時候看著父親經商,讓他一直期許自己有朝一日可以開創屬於自己的事業,現在則希望透過白甘餘這個品牌提倡環保、健康、友善的精神。

台風目前的飲食盡可能不吃肉,除了期許自己更友善的對待環境,他認為這也會影響自己的樣貌。飲食習慣的改變來自於在保加利亞旅行時和牧羊群的際遇,一天為了宴客當地人家在前一晚告知台風明天他們要屠宰羊隻,邀請他來參觀。他沒趕上屠宰的過程但在路上遇到屠宰完的人家,他拎著一個羊皮袋對台風說:「羊都裝在裡面了。」布袋晃啊晃的,當下台風還不特別覺得怎麼樣。直到晚上宴會時,餐桌上供應著厚片羊排,當下台風只覺得那是一盤盤的生命,是前幾天還一起在草原上的朋友。現在的生活中他能不吃肉就會選擇吃菜,不過若是無法選擇的情況下,還是以不浪費食物為第一優先。

台風從2012年開始嘗試優格的製程和口味,2014年成立目前的店面,去年夏天一趟前往保加利亞的兩個月旅行,讓他奠定了許多不同的想法:保加利亞的國土面積是台灣的三倍大,又不像台灣大多數是高山不適合居住,人和自然的生活狀態和在台灣的我們非常不同。台風在那趟旅途中思考自己創業的目的,不只是為了賺錢,更重要的是提供生活品質,用自由的風氣和朋友在一起。

台風求新求變的個性讓白甘餘常常出現限定的少量特殊口味,除了優格外,在白甘餘也能購買台風推薦的在地食物,近期時常在粉絲專頁上團購的正宗朝鮮蘿蔔泡菜,便是台風無意間發現的好味道。

Bay Ganyo is a character of Bulgarian tale story. He enjoys travel, making friends around, loving the atmosphere of freedom just like the owner of Bay Ganyo Yogurt, Typhoon. Also, the translation of Bay Ganyo into Chinese will be purity, sweetness and lingering charm. This name not only clarify the source of yogurt but also describe the personality of the brand. Typhoon therefore name the brand by this.

Moved back from Taipei to Tainan when he was in the elementary school, Typhoon said he was unhappy with the education system till college. His father did business since Typhoon was a kid, and made him wish to open his own business. He went to Okinawa studying when he was in graduate school and learned the diverse of many kinds culture. Typhoon always feels himself has weird and vivid personality, the ultimate goal of this brand is promoting the spirit of eco-friendly, healthy and friendly.

Started testing the flavor of yogurt in 2012, Typhoon finally opened his own shop in 2014. Last summer, he got a chance to visit Bulgaria for two months. It was a journey not only for relaxing but to re-examine what is the main value of Bay Ganyo. The land area of Bulgaria is three times of Taiwan’s while the relationship between human and nature are totally different from what we are in Taiwan. Typhoon therefore strengthen the determination that for him, how much money he earns form Bay Ganyo Yogurt doesn’t matter, the thing which is more important is upgrading the living quality and being with friends.

Typhoon tends to lessen eating meat now, not only for treating the environment much more friendly, he also thinks this is changing the way he looks. The reason why he changed his eating habit can be traced back the time he visited Bulgaria, one day before a party event, one shepherd told Typhoon he is going to slaughter the lamb tomorrow and invited him to come. Typhoon woke up too late the day and met the shepherd on the way, he carried one huge bag made with lamb skin. Typhoon didn’t feel anything when he was talking to the shepherd, but things changed at night. When he saw dishes on the table served with plenty thick lamb, he only saw one and another life living, they were friends who he played with just several days ago. He now chooses to eat vegetables when he has options, but the first priority will always be not wasting food.

Typhoon’s interest in creating makes him offer limited special flavor yogurt every once and a while, also it’s easy to buy other products of his recommendation in Bay Ganyo, recently he is highly recommend Korean Kimchi made by an local mother which offers healthy and pure food.
